Level Crossing Brewing: ‘Rock On’ Lager to Benefit Musicians

Music courses through the veins of Level Crossing Brewing Co. Great musicians, past and present, adorn the taproom walls. Bands are booked weekly to perform at the South Salt Lake brewery. A handful of Level Crossing beer names reference music somehow.

“A lot of the employees here are self-proclaimed music nerds,” founder Mark Medura told Utah Beer News in a podcast episode earlier this year, as the brewery celebrated its two-year anniversary. “I’m just a hippie at heart. (Music has) always been integral to what I wanted to do with the taproom. It’s part of the brand. It’s important to me, it’s important to a lot of us. A part of our value system, if you will.”

It’s no surprise, then, that Level Crossing is partnering with Crosby Hops and the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund to brew Rock On Crafted Lager. Level Crossing plans to release the 5% ABV American Pilsner at its taproom on Sept. 10.

“Sweet Relief Musicians Fund provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians and music industry workers who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems,” the organization writes on its website.

Even more, Level Crossing will donate $1 to Salt Lake Academy of Music for each pint sold of Rock On.

This isn’t the first beer Level Crossing’s brewed for a good cause. In 2020, the brewery was invited to partner with Brewing Funds the Cure to brew Rising Hope. That IPA benefited the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Here’s more about the Rock On collaboration. It benefits musicians and crews impacted by COVID-19.

Level Crossing: Awards Roundup

Heading into this week’s beer release, Level Crossing picked up several medals at recent competitions.

The White Salamander Fruited Hazy Double IPA earned gold at the 2021 U.S. Open Beer Championships. It’s part of Level Crossing’s popular Red Feather Small-Batch Series.

And prior to that, the brewery earned a six-pack of medals — including two gold — at the International Beer Awards.
